A Three-Day Wedding at Château de Beauregard, France | South of France Wedding Photographer
There are some weddings that feel less like a single day and more like a weekend spent with family and friends. Caroline and Camille's wedding at the beautiful Château de Beauregard in the South of France was exactly that.
Travelling from my home in Somerset, UK, I spent three days documenting every part of their celebration, from an intimate welcome dinner through to a relaxed pool party the day after the wedding. It's one of the reasons I love photographing destination weddings.
A Relaxed Welcome Dinner
The celebrations began on Friday evening with a small welcome dinner at the château. Close family and friends gathered to enjoy great food, drinks and a handful of heartfelt speeches before the main event the following day.
These evenings are often some of my favourite parts of a wedding weekend. Everyone is relaxed, guests have time to meet each other, and it gives me the opportunity to photograph natural moments before the excitement of the wedding day begins.
An Outdoor Wedding at Château de Beauregard
Saturday brought warm sunshine and blue skies as guests gathered in the grounds of Château de Beauregard for an outdoor ceremony.
The entire day took place outside - from the ceremony to dinner, speeches and cake cutting. The château providing an incredible backdrop throughout. French château weddings have a wonderfully relaxed pace, allowing couples to spend more time with their guests while still enjoying all the elegance that comes with such a stunning venue.
Rather than focusing on posed photographs, I photographed the day as it unfolded naturally, capturing genuine moments, reactions and all the little details that make every wedding unique.
Photographing the Wedding on Film
Alongside my digital cameras, I photographed parts of the weekend using two film cameras: my Pentax 67 medium format camera and a rare Widelux panoramic camera.
Medium format film has a timeless quality that's difficult to replicate digitally, while the Widelux creates beautifully wide panoramic images that are perfect for capturing the scale of the château, the gardens and the atmosphere of a destination wedding.
Mixing digital and film allows couples to receive a gallery that feels both contemporary and classic, with each format bringing its own character to the story.

A Sunday Pool Party
The celebrations didn't end after the first dance. On Sunday, family and friends gathered once again for a relaxed pool party at the château. It was the perfect way to round off the weekend, with guests swimming, chatting and making the most of the French sunshine. One of the standout moments came when a guest floated into the middle of the swimming pool on an inflatable cushion and began playing the violin a wonderfully unexpected scene that perfectly summed up the fun and relaxed atmosphere of the entire weekend. These are often the photographs couples treasure most years later: the unscripted moments that nobody could have planned.
Travelling from the UK to Photograph Weddings in France
I'm based in Somerset in the South West of England but regularly photograph weddings across France and Europe.
Travelling to the South of France is surprisingly straightforward, with direct flights from several UK airports and excellent rail connections making destination weddings far easier than many couples imagine.
